A Personal Note from Bruce:
My wife, Sarah, and I started our teaching journey at the American School in El Salvador. After four months, we evacuated in our VW bus during intense military conflict. We drove to the states just in time for Sarah to give birth to our first daughter (of five). We accepted teaching positions in local public schools. I was a Title VII resource specialist for the Hmong refugee population, and Sarah implemented a Spanish immersion program for a district in another town.
Sarah now works as a Migrant Education Area Director in Northern California. I am an Executive Coach with 30 years of leadership experience in public and private education across several countries and in business, with national IT companies. I am trained in Cognitive Coaching, certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources, I have a Master’s in Teaching from Stanford and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Minnesota. I speak Spanish fluently and am adept at using remote technologies. I work with teachers and leaders to explore opportunities and discover the next steps. I understand the multiple forces on schools, and through appreciative inquiry, I help leaders use their knowledge and talents to find creative solutions.
I enjoy reaching new heights out of the office, as well. I completed the Death Ride in the California Alps twice, and last year summited Whitney, Shasta, and Half Dome. I also qualified for the 2020 National Sprint Triathlon. I like challenges in work and play and am eager for others to succeed.
